Community Interest Company
We are a Community Interest Company
Any company can act in the community interest if the directors decide it should… but the only way a limited company can gain recognition as a truly ‘not-for-profit’ operation is to register as a Community Interest Company.
Kura Aviation is the industry’s first Community Interest Company (CIC).
As a CIC we are required to reinvest our profits back into the new pilot community through sponsorship and funding initiatives. Our Social Enterprise status enables us access pockets of funding which will be made available to individuals who, for financial reasons, have no means to access the profession. In less than 3 years we are delighted to have supported training through sponsorships totalling £40,000.
Two years after graduating, I did not have an airline job and had no more funds to pay for a type rating or further training.
I was really keen to do the BESTPILOT course as it seemed like just what I needed and I was lucky enough to receive funding assistance from Kura. I was incredibly pleased to be awarded this financial help as it enabled me to do the course, which I wouldn’t have been able to do otherwise.
