As an older, modular trained pilot I knew it was going to be difficult to find a job and always worked as hard as possible throughout my flight training to get first time passes and high exam marks and put myself in the best place possible. However I quickly realised after qualifying in 2013, and being rejected at every application, that the task of finding a job seemed more like an impossibility.
My lack of success in finding work continued until early 2016 when someone told me about Kura and their success in helping pilots into airlines. At first I was very sceptical; I had spoken to other companies offering a similar service who seemed more concerned about making money than helping the customer and were also less than transparent with providing figures to back up their success. These fears were quickly alleviated by speaking with Isobel and Philip who gave me honest, up front information and genuinely seemed to care.
The course itself was excellent. It enabled me to increase my knowledge and understanding of the role and the competencies needed to be a successful First Officer. I was also able to hone my skills to closely match those looked for by the airline recruitment teams and so felt a lot more confident and knew I was airline ready by the end.
Since finishing training with Kura I have secured a job at BA Cityflyer, completed my Type Rating and Line Training, and can honestly say that the BESTPILOT course has been instrumental in helping me across the final hurdle; it is down to their contacts with airlines, professional development training, developmental feedback and ongoing support that I have now achieved my life long goal of being an airline pilot.
I cannot speak highly enough of Isobel and the rest of the Kura team and will be eternally grateful for their help.
