After graduating from flight school in 2014 I found it challenging to find a job as a First Officer. Due to the lack of Pilot jobs, I worked in Schiphol in various roles just to stay close to the aviation industry, then later I became an IT Consultant. When recruitment opportunities increased in 2017, I knew I had to secure an airline job quickly because otherwise I would be ‘too old’ or ‘too long out of flight school’.
I feel really lucky that I came across KURA and I had the opportunity to join their incredible training course and team.
It was their determination to make me successful, combined with the whole setup of the training program, which makes KURA a one of a kind. KURA divided their training course into 3 different modules; Pilot Fundamentals, followed by MCC/JOC on the Boeing 737NG, and lastly Professional Pilot Development.
The course instructors earned their stripes in different airlines, through different operations and each had different levels of experience which made it really interesting. I was surprised at how quickly I developed, both personally and professionally, during my time with KURA.
After finishing the BESTPILOT programme it became infinitely easier to be aware of job opportunities thanks to the established network KURA has with airlines. It didn’t take me long before I found a job as a First Officer and I now fly around Europe on the Fokker 100.
I’m thankful to the KURA team for helping me all along the way – they really know how to bridge the gap between flight school graduation and the right hand seat in the cockpit. Their passion, knowledge and willingness to make BESTPILOT graduates succeed in finding a First Officer job is what makes KURA special. This is why I will be forever grateful to the KURA team, and Isobel and Philip in particular, for making my dream come true!
