I have always been fascinated by aeroplanes and how they work. I had my first trial lesson at age of 15 on a Cessna 152; from that moment I was hooked.
I wanted to fly bigger and better aircraft and thought it would be amazing to be the person in charge of such a craft.
Once I had completed my full time education, and gained a Private Pilot Licence, I began an integrated course that I felt would best enable me to fulfil my potential. But, three years after graduating from my course, I was starting to think that a First Officer position was getting further and further away from me.
KURA reignited my self-belief and helped me to realise that the elusive flight deck job could and would happen. From the very start I felt KURA’s sole aim was to provide me with the sound knowledge base I would need to pass all the assessments associated with the job applications.
The excellent training delivered by their highly experienced instructors and the way I felt they were personally assisting me meant everything. I enjoyed being at the training centre in Startford Upon Avon – spending time with like-minded people and discussing everything aviation-related once again.
In August 2015, three years after passing my CPL, I received a hold pool offer from BA CityFlyer. I could not have imagined that the BESTPILOT programme would have assisted me in finding a First Officer job within 3 months!
It means the world to have got to this point. After completing my flight training, and during the BESTPILOT programme, I worked as cabin crew in order to prove my determination to get onto the other side of the door. I am really looking forward to embarking on my new career with BA CityFlyer; the challenges and rewards of flying every day and a new start in learning and bettering my aviation knowledge and skills.
I am quite sure that had it not been for the unwavering help and support of Isobel, Philip and the KURA team, I would not be where I am today.
