I did my flight training overseas and returned to the UK to convert my licence. I had very few contacts in the world of aviation and I realised that I would have to choose very carefully where I completed my MCC / JOC.
The MCC is regulated, and JOC may also be mandatory soon, so a good sim course is necessary to demonstrate to an airline that you are ready to make the transition into a commercial multi-crew environment. I set out to find the best one to suit my needs, a high-quality course that would bridge the gap between the world of general aviation and the airlines.
During our pilot training (CPL/MEIR), we spend our time focusing on flying skills and as a result we know very little about what it is like to be a professional pilot with an airline. KURA did a very good job of addressing that point in the first week. To do it, they brought in experienced Captains and First Officers to teach us about safety, commercial considerations and customer service in the industry.
The BESTPILOT course was very dynamic, and I felt it put me ahead of other candidates.
We completed Airline Jet Transition (which includes MCC), and I can honestly say that my type rating at Ryanair was straight-forward because I had received such good training from KURA beforehand. People refer to it as a mini type rating and, having done both, I can see how AJT set me up to do well in the type rating.
KURA does not stop at training. They hosted events where I was able to meet with airline recruitment managers and get advice on how to apply for airline jobs. Once the course was over, I regularly returned to KURA to seek advice and improve on my skills and knowledge, all free of charge!
I strongly recommend KURAs services. I started their course in mid-February and by end of May I was busy with interviews. Isobel and Philip always managed to fit me into their busy schedules to give me advice before interviews or review my application. In the end, I was lucky enough to receive 3 job offers within two or three days, all from fantastic airlines – Jet2, Ryanair and RVL.
I recommend KURA to anyone who is looking for the best training in the industry.
